I don't have the answers yet, but I have learned enough to be dangerous, and ask better questions..
Downtime
A long time ago, I wrote an essay on depression, and my sense that it's a needed state, not something to be briskly swept away with a panopoly of pharmaceuticals, as though our psyches were in need of inebriation to function more effectively. ' There you go, dear. What's that? Yes, I know you still have a shitty marriage. But don't you feel better? Isn't that the important thing? Feeling better?'
Ever notice how many razor commercials there are out there that tout better comfort? It's all about being comfortable, and more comfortable and even more comfortable until....until, well, until there's no feeling I guess.
And that brings me back to depression. The absence of feeling, or feeling down. I have thories about depression which I will share in a later post, but first I want to know what people think about something.
I hear people often turn on the TV at night as a way to have some 'down time'.
What does 'down time' for you look like? What do you do?
Why?
