I don't have the answers yet, but I have learned enough to be dangerous, and ask better questions..
Many paths
I study the major world religions assiduously, and note that there seem to be as many paths as needed for anyone to make their connection to the Divine, redirect the grooves of their karma through meditation, and find their way to spiritual development.
I see certain religions very much on the rise, and within some of those religions, I see fundamentalism on the rise. In my mind, there can only be one reason for fundamentalism - fear. I once read in the Course in Miracles that there are only two emotions in the world: fear and love. If you are not operating in love, then you must be acting out of fear. As I age, I see the wisdom in that. You could say that our political scene right now is two groups battling it out because of fear of what the other will do. Many Kerry voters are afraid of what Bush is going to do next - drafts, tax cuts for the rich, impingement of rights, etc. Many Bush voters fear that Kerry will saddle us with healthcare costs of a government run system, give open license to abortion (does this ever happen?), etc.
It's all just fear.
Where's love in this country? In this world? How can we cultivate more of that and less of fear?
I am thinking of McNamara's #11 here - You can't change people. But can you change yourself, and by that, can you change people who now change the way they vibrate to what you are putting out?
I think so. In fact, I know so.
If I become less sniping and more loving, the people around me do shift because they learn to stop expecting attack from me. They become more loving when they realize I pose no harm to them.
But how to do this on a massive scale? A meteorlogical scale? A world scale?
