I don't have the answers yet, but I have learned enough to be dangerous, and ask better questions..
Snatch, French pseudo Japanese soft porn, and Donkey Kong
And all I was looking for was the song to the new DonkeyKong Gameboy
ad!
I don't care for games, as I have made well known. I was watching
the James Bond Turkey Thon on Spike TV last night - a favorite Thanksgiving tradition in my British family. Spike TV is apparently a channel whose content is directed primarily at men. I did think it odd that every ad was for Axxe or Old Spice or violent video games. These were some of the ones I saw last night:
KillZone - the most realistic
combat game you can buy - preview looked like the final climactic scene from Saving Private Ryan - from the first-person view - quite horrible.
JFK- Resurrected. Do we really need this game? Players get to do the assassination from many angles...supposed to provide catharsis of grief from the original assassination. But, how many people who will buy and play that game have living memory of the original assassination and resultant grief? I smell marketing hogwash....
Nam '69 - I am sure Vietnam vets everywhere love to see young kids enthusiastically bounce into what was the vet's own private hell with wild abandon and complete lack of feeling for the disastrous physical and psychological effects of that war...
You know, just watching the ads on SpikeTV made us look like a bunch of sex-crazed violent people.
And that's just the men!
But I digress....
I found myself entranced by the music to the commercial for DonkeyKong Gameboy. After doing several searches, I learned it was Disco Science from Mirwais, a French house music artist, and is on the Snatch soundtrack.
Well, no wonder I love it. Snatch is one of my all time fave films.
So I went searching for a download, and I actually found the video. It's a bit racy, by American standards. It features a pseudo-Japanese setting with soft porn content (doncha' love the French??) that seems to portray a man's struggle in dream with his lower nature and desire.
See it at:
Mirwais
I still don't want to buy the darned game, but I am going to get the Snatch soundtrack and the DVD for sure.
